Originally this was a two bedroom house - like many other houses in Walthamstow. It was a bit too small for our customer's family and with recent surge in prices in this highly desirable area, loft conversion was the only available option to have a four bedroom house.
The height available from the top of the 1st floor ceiling joists to the ridge beam wasn't ideal - therefore we slightly extended a front facing roof elevation to gain a few extra centimetres. The finished ceiling height now is just sufficient to feel comfortably - around 2.1 m. We constructed a dormer with a juliet balcony, installed en-suite shower room. If only possible, it's always worth spending few thousand pounds on an en-suite shower - it may initially seem not worth spending the money but later you wouldn't be able to have it installed. Above the first floor bathroom we constructed a second smaller bedroom. Currently it is being used as a study.
